New York Style Deli to open possibly as early as this Friday.   I've asked Jim, the owner, to keep me posted.

After 4 trips driving by (admittedly withOUT the address) in search of the New York Style Deli, EUREKA!  It is a tiny corner shop next to the Mahogany shop & Urban Seed & Flower.  Of course it helped that there was a brightly colored umbrella over the hot dog cart out front...

Jim Lazary (affectionately know as "Hot Dog Man") was grilling fresh links out in front of the deli as he chatted with both the hungry & overly-sated.  Most of his customers are already repeat customers.  Jim is extremely proud of his new business and happy as a clam on Adams Avenue.

New York Style Deli is a bit of a misnomer.  There are no bagels or salads.  Just a hand-picked & delicious array of tasty treats from Rochester, New York.  Jim serves Zweigles dogs, Weber's & Nance's mustards & Grandpa Martins pickles, along with other select hometown favorites and his own special "hot sauce".

I had my first authentic "New York style" hotdog and I am hooked.  Jim offers professional advice on how to correctly prepare each dog - for a White Pop Open dog - place the hot sauce on first, onions next, then relish and lastly mustard.    Pop open refers to the casing on the outside.  As you bite into the dog this skin parts with a crisp snap, squirting succulant juices into the other layers of flavors.  A fabulous mouthful of delight!

I moved on to an Italian Sausage, which is wonderful with just mustard (once Jim's steam cart is fully-functioning he will add grilled peppers & onions to the experience).  He plans to include sourkraut & side salads soon.

Jim also has Mrs. Ressler's Pastrami & Corned Beef which he serves hot on Rye bread flown in weekly.  Try the unique sweet pickles - crunchy, dulcet, and colored bright green (they grew on me!).  He also has cheeses, sodas, & desserts (frozen custards are coming soon) and will sell you raw dogs if you want to grill them yourself at home.  You can check out his website at http://www.hotdiggitydog.org

New York Style Deli is the kind of neighborhood business we want to do well and expand quickly.  Right now the Deli is open Monday - Saturday 11:00 am - 2:00 pm ( or later if traffic warrants) at 2864 Adams Avenue.  Stop by and say "hi" to our new Hot Dog Man!

For those of you who've been curious but haven't made it over to New York Style Deli yet, Jim is catering the April 28th Neighbors Meeting Neighbors Community Dinner.  See http://www.normalheights.org/nmn/ for more details.

That's perfect. There needs to be more New York Style Deli's here. However, i'm a little unclear on the location. Which major New York Hotel is it near? I'm new to the city and I need landmarks. Is it near that huge Times Square Hotel? Can't wait to try it!

The nearst cross street would be Utah St to the west of the Deli on Adams Ave. If you go east to Jim's Smog Check you have gone too far....back up some.

Ok...for the life of me, I just can not find this place! I have driven by about a dozen times...each time going super slow and Im sure annoying the folks behind me. I can find the flower & seed place & the Mahogany shop, but no go on the deli. Is there a sign?? Am I blind?  Huh

All this talk about hot dogs has got me craving a good one!

thanks!
